Surrounded by palm trees, sailboats, pirate costumes, cheering friends, music and a treasure chest overflowing with gold coins, the celebration was designed around one message: after years of legal battles, it was finally time to celebrate.
And in this playful, version of the celebration, the surprise guest was none other than Samuel L. Jackson, arriving personally to help present the prize to Robert Paul Yann Savoie and join the Pirate Week festivities.
With the beach packed and the party already underway, Jackson stepped into the celebration carrying the trophy while the crowd gathered around the giant treasure chest marked:
“JUDGMENT MONEY — $17.5 MILLION.”
The atmosphere was part Caribbean festival, part pirate movie and part victory celebration.
For Robert, the moment represented much more than money.
It symbolized the end of years of fighting, paperwork, court proceedings, uncertainty and personal stress — and the beginning of a completely different chapter.
The British Virgin Islands provided the perfect setting.
Catamarans floated offshore while crowds filled the beach. Pirate flags flew above the party, confetti filled the air, and the treasure chest became the centrepiece of the celebration.
In the scene, Samuel L. Jackson joked with guests, posed beside the trophy and joined Robert and his family for the celebration.
The appearance turned an already memorable Pirate Week into something resembling a Hollywood premiere.
But underneath the humour and spectacle was a serious message.
Robert described the celebration as being about getting his life back after years consumed by legal conflict.
The trophy, the treasure chest and the exaggerated Pirate Week theme were all symbols of one idea:
the fight was over, and it was finally time to enjoy life again.
For Robert and his family, the imagined celebration represented freedom, travel, aviation, the ocean and the possibility of rebuilding after a difficult period.
And if there was ever a place to celebrate a dramatic legal victory, Pirate Week in the British Virgin Islands would be difficult to beat.
A tropical beach.
A pirate treasure chest.
A $17.5 million judgment.
A cheering crowd.
And, at least in this celebration, Samuel L. Jackson himself presenting the prize.
Now that is a victory party.
